I have a straggler card to share today -- a project that didn't make into my Papertrey Release In Review post yesterday. I've used the latest set of stamps and dies in Dawn McVey's Enclosed series -- Enclosed: Wreath.
I wanted to try the technique of stamping in a really light color and then using the stamped image as a guide for watercoloring. Kind of like the no-line technique, only with a solid image.
I started by stamping the wreath in Fine Linen ink. Next, I smooshed my greens onto an acrylic block, picked the ink up with a water brush and started painting the leaves. I skipped around so that by the time I came back around to where I'd begun, those first leaves were dry and I could paint the ones adjacent to them. After the leaves were done, I stamped the berries in Pure Poppy and added shading to them with Scarlet Jewel. I thought the leaves still needed some depth, particularly to delineate the places where one leaf overlaps another. I pulled out a dark green Zig marker for that.
After I finished the watercoloring, I die-cut the image using the new Tag Sale: Quilted die. I trimmed the sentiment out of an Enclosed: Wreath die-cut and watercolored it in Pure Poppy and Scarlet Jewel. I added some Spring Moss ribbon and mounted the tag to a Vintage Cream Linen card stock base.
I like how this turned out, but my watercoloring skills need a lot of work. No worries, though, you only get better with practice, right?

This card is fabulous, Amy! Your watercoloring looks fantastic. After seeing your card, I think I am the one that needs to practice.
