Rainbows

Those crayons on yesterday's card had me feeling all colorful, so I put together another rainbow card for today. The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti's DREAM IN COLOR set, and the heart is from I LIKE YOU. Lots of my favorite things ... baker's twine, sequins, notebook edge, clouds. (The whites are all wonky in the photo -- so sorry. None of my usual fix tricks are working!)

Guess what? The next Reverse Confetti release is Monday, and peeks begin tomorrow on the Reverse Confetti blog. Squeee!! I'm having so much fun playing with the new sets - can't wait to show you!

Life Is About ...

Hello, friends, sorry for the long absence. This past weekend, I had the honor of hosting, along with my siblings, a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for my parents. As you can imagine, there were lots of preparations, the biggest being a slideshow featuring photographs from their wedding day as well as highlights from the past 50 years. That's a lot of old photos to locate, scan, and organize! Around 2 am the day of the event, my mind was spinning with all kinds of cool things we could have incorporated, so if you're ever planning one of these, give me a shout! Maybe some other couple can benefit from my sleepless night {grin}. Despite all the could-haves, it was a lovely celebration. I'm so proud of my parents and their commitment to, and love for, each other! 

And now, a little papercrafty catching up. Monday, Reverse Confetti unveiled the July Sketch For You To Try! You have until the 14th to play along. Are you in? Hope so! 

Here's what we're playing with this month:

I took a few liberties with the sketch, but the main elements are all there. The awesome sentiment, from Reverse Confetti's DREAM IN COLOR set, has been stamped in VersaMark ink on black card stock, then heat embossed with white embossing powder. The horizontal strip is cork, and I accented with baker's twine, a big ol' yellow button, and a rainbow of sequins just for fun.

The SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY details you need to know…

• There will be a new sketch posted on the Reverse Confetti blog on the 1st of each month.

• The sketch link list will be open from the 1st until noon CST on the 14th. The sketch will be posted in the sidebar and you will be able to click on it to get to that month’s SFYTT post with the link list during this time.

• We originally stated that you must play with Reverse Confetti stamps to win; however, we are allowing “anything goes” until the end of the year. Note, that we will be adding this requirement in January.

Hugs Make Everything Better

Happy Saturday, friends. I've got a sweet little Reverse Confetti card to share today, a makeover of a previous reject.

The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti's I LIKE YOU, and the papers are from the Teresa Collins She Said 6x6 line. I love the row of dots in I LIKE YOU  and used it here both underneath the word "hugs" as well as along the bottom. A subtle little something extra.

June Card Kitchen Cards

In case you didn't see these over on The Card Kitchen blog last week, here are my June kit cards -- enjoy! Peeks of the July kit are being posted on The Card Kitchen blog this week. Full reveal/release on July 1. You're gonna love!

Classy and Fabulous

For this one, I hand-cut a dress form and created a dress using some accordian-folded paper for the skirt and the back side of a corrugated cardboard butterfly for the bodice. The base of the dress form (a file tab sticker) and the sentiment are from the included sticker sheet. The papers in this kit are from the Fancy Pants Trendsetter line.

Call Me

Loved working with the Jillibean Soup Frames placemats (the Kraft polaroid-looking frames). You get a 12x12 sheet of perforated frames in the kit (a total of 12 frames in all). That background is the same blue as the first card - it's looking a little black here.

Friends 4 Life

One of the patterns in the Trendsetter collection is a really fun, graphic number print. I trimmed out individual numbers to create quite a few custom sentiments this month. Here, I combined a "friends" sticker, a "life" frame, and the trimmed out number 4. Background is navy blue. That little postage stamp says "good times ahead." Isn't that fun for a BFF card?

Happy 27th Birthday - Check Me Out!

Another custom sentiment using those numbers trimmed out of one of the Trendsetter patterns. The balloon was done by adding a triangle to the bottom of the circle sticker, then tying on some string. Lots of circles, again.

Hello

The fun of this paper collection (for me) is that you can create fun, bright, cheery, modern cards right along with soft, romantic cards, like this one. I'm not sure I can make a set of eight or nine cards without distressing at least one, so this was the one this time (wink). I softened the edges of the frame and stacked cardboard butterflies with a little white pigment ink.

Just a Note

This typewriter looks JUST like an old, manual typewriter I scored on Craig's List a few months ago.

Laugh

Sweet and simple ... The red tag is cut out from a 12x12 tag print. Tons more left over for future projects. Same navy blue background - sorry it looks black in these photos! I used a sanding block on the edges of the tag to help it stand out more against the dark background.

Rock Star

One more custom sentiment using those trimmed out numbers.

This Is The Life

I try to throw in at least one horizontal card each month. They're hard for me! (The half accordion-fold rosette was the jump-start for the dress form card up above.)

Sunny Days

A 10-minute card is a concept both foreign and appealing, so I decided to give the current 10-Minute Craft Dash challenge a go. Amazingly, I did it, clocking in at 9 minutes, 32 seconds. Now I did go into it with a plan, and I did have my ink pads open and my stamps mounted on blocks already. Is that cheating? I don't think so. After all, when an athlete runs a race, the clock doesn't reflect the time it takes to get dressed, put the shoes on, and approach the starting block, right? 

The color palette -- yellow, red, and aqua -- felt perfect for the "sunny days" sentiment from Reverse Confetti's I LIKE YOU set ...

... and this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge #32 was the perfect road map.

If you've thought maybe I'm kinda, sorta in love with this sunny days sentiment from I LIKE YOU, you're right! Pretty sure this is my third sunny days card ... so far :)
