Countdown to Confetti: Puppy Love and Heart to Heart


A new REVERSE CONFETTI release is around the corner, and today, the peeks begin! 



Today we're previewing two new stamp sets, PUPPY LOVE and HEART TO HEART, and both have coordinating Confetti Cuts dies. There are also three new PRETTY PANELS dies, and a SQUARE TAG (plus dies that go with the stamp sets you'll see the rest of this week). AND ... we have a brand-new product this month, something called QUICK CARD PANELS, which you'll see later in this post. Exciting stuff!

I couldn't wait to ink up these sweet little pups from PUPPY LOVE. (Don't look too closely at my Copic coloring -- my skills are rusty, or maybe it's my eyes!) Aren't these little guys adorable?!! The heart behind them is one of many fun, graphic heart art images from HEART TO HEART.



I stamped one of the darling PUPPY LOVE sentiments onto a banner strip and accented with a button and two twine bows.




I colored over the eyes and noses with a black glaze pen, and added some sparkle to the pink and blue bows with a clear Wink of Stella pen.

Now, about those QUICK CARD PANELS. They are beautiful, themed, pre-designed printed panels. They come in a set of sixteen -- 2 each of 8 designs. Use them alone or add a few embellishments -- either way, they are what they promise: quick! This first collection of Quick Card Panels has a strong Valentine theme, to go beautifully with the Valentine stamps and dies in this release. You can add to them, cut them down, stamp on them -- whatever your heart desires!


For this card, I started by layering a white BIG CHEVRON PRETTY PANELS die-cut onto a QUICK CARD PANEL. I wove five lengths of metallic twine through the chevrons, alternating the over/under for a basketweave look. (I was inspired by the weaving on this card of Kathy Martin's.) The ends were secured to the back of the QUICK CARD PANEL, which was then adhered to the card base with foam tape. I then added a die-cut heart from PUPPY LOVE and a gold heat embossed "love" from the HEART LOVE PRETTY PANEL.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Winter Wonder



It's time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

For today's card I worked with Altenew's stunning Peony Scrolls stamp set. Love these gorgeous florals! I stamped some flowers and leaves on watercolor paper, heat embossed in white, then colored with a mix of cool and warm grays using Tombow markers and a water brush. 


I trimmed them out tight up against the white embossed outline, then arranged them onto a panel stamped with some light  khaki scrolls. I played up the neutrals by layering three different neutrals plus some vellum. The sentiment is from Quilled Elegance.

Celebrate 2015


Happy New Year's Eve, friends! I hope your holidays have been peaceful and filled with joy. I took a nice, long blog break, but I'm back today and excited about what the new year holds! Peace, Love & Joy

The LEAD of this challenge will be invited to be a guest designer in an upcoming challenge!

 A randomly selected participant in the Candy Cane challenge will receive a $20 gift certificate to Avery Elle.

My card was super quick and easy to make, thanks to the bold images and sentiments in Avery Elle's NOEL set. I first stamped some snowflakes for the background, then stamped the sentiment in bold red. The length of aqua twine is secured in a few places with some matte multi medium, and then two birds are popped up on top as if they are carrying the twine in their beaks.

For a little extra something, I colored over the sentiment with a clear Wink of Stella pen.

And did the same for the two birds.

Last, I added some sequins.

Jingle All the Way - SFYTT


I've been so inspired lately by mixed media and watercolor projects on Pinterest and YouTube, so when I sat down to play along with Reverse Confetti's December Sketch For You To Try, I knew I wanted to incorporate at least a tiny bit of an artsy look.


First, here's the December sketch:

My snowflakes are die-cut with Reverse Confetti's LET IT SNOW Confetti Cuts out of a panel that I watercolored in different shades of blue, then splattered with dark blue pigment.



The horizontal piece is made of layers of card stock, patterned paper, a doily piece, and some torn linen vellum topped with a pop of black diagonal stripe washi tape. More splattering in the same colors that I used for the snowflakes.



The sentiment, from TINSEL 'N TRIM, is stamped in Memento Luxe Teal Zeal onto a light gray card stock background panel. The background panel is also splattered with metallic silver and white watercolor.



Last, I added a sparkly twine bow with jingle bells tied to the ends, rounded the corners of the background panel, and mounted it to a white top-fold card base.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Candy Cane

For today's card, I took inspiration from the red and white striped candy canes and the aqua ribbon. I was also inspired by the overall clean, crisp look of the inspiration photo. 


First I stamped a background of snowflakes from Avery Elle's Noel stamp set. I used the rock 'n roll technique to get the two shades of blue. Then I spritzed on a little silver mist and added a candy cane stripe and some sparkly twine. 


The sentiment is stamped in a bold red ink, trimmed to a rectangle, backed with a doily fragment and popped up on foam tape.
