Go-To Gals & Friends Blog Hop

Have you seen this little baby yet:

It's Paper Crafts' newest special publication, filled with a whopping 66 sketches (created by the six Go-To Gals) and 282 unique projects created from those sketches. Talk about inspiration!

Yesterday, the folks at Paper Crafts Connection, Cath at Moxie Fab World, and the six Paper Crafts Go-To Gals kicked off a full week of Go-To Sketches fun and excitement. I'm beyond thrilled to be participating in today's festivities. A few weeks ago, I got an email from Go-To Gal Maren asking if I'd like to be a part of the week's celebration by playing along with one of her sketches. Of course! I'm truly honored and humbled. Thank you, sweet Maren!

Without further ado, here is Maren's sketch:

And here's my take:

The Scenic Route chipboard butterfly has been covered in one of the Basic Grey Kioshi 6x6 patterns, then spritzed with Pssst! Shimmer Spray. I wish you could see this one in real life, because that shimmer is soooo nice! The sentiment is by Verve Stamps.

You can see just a hint of the shimmer in these detail shots (click photos for close-ups):

Don't you love all the different ways a single sketch can be interpreted? Take a look at what Maren and her other Go-To Friends have done with the sketch:

Maren Benedict
Carolyn King
Joslyn Nielson
Julie Campbell
Lisa Johnson

Would you like to win a copy of Go-To Sketches? Leave a comment here for just one of many chances to win. I'm always looking for good reads, so in your comment, tell me something you've read (and liked) recently. Fiction, non-fiction - anything goes :)

Leave comments on all of today's participating blogs for even more chances to win. Start with each of the six Go-To Girls:

Teri Anderson
Maren Benedict
Kim Hughes
Kim Kesti
Betsy Veldman
Jessica Witty

They'll each be introducing their five Go-To Friends (that's 36 chances to win right there). And last, no day would be complete without a visit to Paper Crafts Connection, where you'll find yet another chance to win.

Comments close at midnight (MDT) on Wednesday, April 7!

Good luck and thanks for visiting! Oh, before I go ... GO DUKE!

I love the card sketches and even though I"m not great at making cards I do love to use the sketches as a guide along for my digital cards.

WOWZERS. Adding this card to my favorites. I love how you used the bling for the butterfly's path. The papers are beautiful. The book I am currrently reading is *ok* so I'll share my fav. book of ALL TIME, which is The Grapes of Wrath. I found it inspiring that people in the 30's had so many odds against them, but dignity and honor prevail.

Beautiful card.

Since this is a craft site, my recommendation is Prayers for Sale by Sandra Dallas. The book pieces together a tale of the relationship of two women, 17 and 86 years old, based on quilting, storytelling and motherhood. The first chapter is a little slow, but if you keep reading you’ll be rewarded with a heartwarming story. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

That sketch mag. would be an awesome prize to win indeed!

The biography book I just finished & found to be very interesting is called... "Another Man's War: The true story of one man's battle to save children in the Sudan". By Sam Childers.
It is about a violent drug-addicted biker who became a pastor & spends his time in the most dangerous parts of Sudan & Uganda rescuing orphans & child soldiers, victims of war.
I understand not everyone will agree with his methods, but at least he is doing something. I do recommend this read, if not only to just step out of our own comfortable boxes for a moment.

Oh, I love your card! The colours are stunning and the butterfly -wow. Just so beautiful!

I'm a big Kathy Reichs fan. Any of her books will keep me entertained for hours. Lately, though, I've been reading a lot of Debbie Macomber. They're a nice light read, easy to put down for a couple of days when things get busy and then pick right up again.

Thanks for sharing your gorgeous work!

Amy this is just gorgeous. What a fun sketch. I read a very memorable book about 6 months ago. I keep trying to get my book club to read it, but no such luck. It's called Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. It will make you cry though. I never cry when I read, but this one was just a great story of friendship. Hope you get a chance to pick it up. Summer is a great time for reading:)
