Knowledge is POWER

My kindergarten-bound daughter has been working hard on her reading skills this summer. I'm so proud of her progress, and can already see a bookworm emerging. On one of our recent trips to the library, we finally got Adrienne her own library card. She's really excited! To help her take responsibility for her card, I thought I'd make a cute place for her to keep it between library visits. The backpack box that was posted on Splitcoast a week or so ago was perfect. Like most little girls (and us big girls, too, right?), she loves miniature anything, so I'm thinking she'll be begging to go the library more often just so she can get out her cute little backpack.

Here's a closer look:

From the side:

And here's a closer look at the coordinating card:

The bookworm, stack of books, and shelf of books are all part of the new I {Heart} Books set by My Favorite Things. This set is just so gosh-darn adorable, I can hardly stand it!

Thanks for visiting! I'm heading out this morning to pick up Adrienne from a "three sleeps" visit with her Nana and "Dodger" (their name for their granddad). Can't wait for her sweet little hugs and kisses!

Stamps: I {Heart} Books (My Favorite Things Presents)
Paper: Papertrey Dark Chocolate, MFT Perfect Paper Panels, My Mind's Eye Penny Lane Tiny Dancer dp
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, blending stumps, American crafts foam letters, SU hardware and ribbon, Papertrey ribbon, sewing machine, foam adhesive, classic and scalloped circle Nestabilities

This is adorable! Your coloring and color combos are so fun! I wasn't loving this set. . .until now!! Isn't it great to have a new reader? My youngest is going into 1st grade and this summer he has been reading up a storm! He was so proud when I encouraged him to try the green frog level (level 2) in the early readers, instead of the purple frogs, and he could read them no problem!! I love to hear him sound out the words and then see his face light up when he figures it out! Good for Adrienne! She'll do great in kindergarten!!

In looking at the stamp set it would probably never caught my eye. But your use is simply adorable. And the color combination including the backpack make the perfect gift combo. I guess I'll have to break down and get that darn stamp set . . . .

I love your blog and visit it every day. Thanks for all wonderful inspiration.

This is over the top adorable!! I teach Gr. 3 and this would be so much fun for my students and/or staff members :) The little backpack is so sweet. I have a quote that I keep up by my desk at work by Strickland Gillian..."You may have tangible wealth untold: Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold. Richer than I you can never be--I had a Mother who read to me."

I love the soft coloring you used on the book worm image. I printed out a tutorial on that backpack a month or so ago, but I have not had a chance to use it. Perhaps today...
