Father Figure
Interested in a chance to win one of the soon-to-be released stamp sets from Verve Visual?! Head over to the Verve blog for sneak peeks at Great Expectations (yesterday's post) and Father Figure (today's post). Leave a comment over there and you'll be entered into a drawing for the giveaway (to be announced tomorrow).
My card uses Father Figure, and I will tell you this set absolutely takes the angst and challenge out of masculine cards. Really! The sentiments are simple, straightforward, yet heartfelt, and they work just as well stand-alone as they do paired with other images. Here I've stamped the words "I'm so glad you're my" onto twill (I used Chocolate Chip craft ink) and the large "Dad" image onto one of the papers from Basic Grey's new Archaic line. The "dirty" blue-green-brown colors of these patterns are perfect for guy cards! I added some jumbo eyelets and fibers, along with some heavy sponging in Chocolate Chip ink, to finish off the overall grungy, masculine look. No more being afraid of guy cards -- this set drips with manliness. Can't you almost see the chest hair growing?
What I'm really excited about is how far ahead I am on Father's Day cards now. I've never been this early! Usually, it goes something like this: "Oh Dad, your Father's Day card [or birthday card] is down in my craft room. I'll go get it. By the way, what color do you want it to be?" You can be ahead of the game, too. Julee ships out the Verve orders lightning fast!
Remember, today is the last day to use the coupon code AmyRocks for a 15% discount on your entire Verve order. Thankful Blossoms and Anniversary Birds are available again. And tomorrow, the two new sets will become available.
Okay, so yesterday, I promised I'd show you a must-have "tool" that I just acquired for my craft room. Although I'm really excited about it, I have to confess it's a little scary, too. Ready?
Yep, that's me in reading glasses. Evidently, my eyes are every bit of my 39 1/2 years and right on schedule to start giving out. But seriously, if you must have reading glasses, shouldn't they be COOL ones like these? (My pink-crazed 4yo daughter picked these out. And by the way, I'm also sporting "screaming pink" [think Pink Passion] rubber bands on my braces for the next 4 weeks. Think I should start leaving her in the car, lol?) And yes, this is all part of my shameless attempt to ensure that my mailbox is flooded with BRAKs on the sad day when I turn the big 4-0 ... I'm sure I'll be reminding you again and again ... so whenever you're ready for my address (and the date), just go on ahead and shoot me an email ... the link is in the sidebar ;)
For today, a much happier birthday to celebrate. My youngest, Gabriel, is 1 TODAY! Where has the time gone? See how big he is?
(So big.)
Last, a reminder about, and small change to, my blog candy. Enter HERE if you haven't already. I'll be closing the comments at NOON tomorrow instead of 9 am.
What a mash-up of things in this post, huh?
Smiles,

First off, that card is dripping in testosterone...can't wait to see the full set!
Second, your glasses are the "coolest" as my 9 year old would say. Don't fear 40!! I turned the big 4-0 last year and isn't 40 the new 30? or is it 20? giggle...
Lastly, your son is adorable!!!
Have a great day!
How PRECIOUS is Gabriel?! He's giving me a toothache, he's so sweet!
Love your card, too, Pickler!

Love the card Amy - you have the knack for masculine cards.
Wow, Amy! This card is absolutely stunning. Love the lacing! Your reading glasses are fab, too! And your birthday boy is cute as can be. Hugs & smiles!
I love this card. I saw it in the gallery first and liked how you threaded the two pieces together.
It seems we both have a dreaded birthday coming this year. I am a little behind you though, 3-0 is on it's way for me.
Happy Birthday to the LO, my baby is now 2 and I am not sure I can even remember when he was a baby.
What a great masculine card!
happy b-day to your baby! Time flies! Enjoy while you can
What a minute...I need to push my laptop back a bit more, I can't read your post ;-)
LOVE the reading glasses.....I'm so right behind you with needing a pair. Think Adrienne will go shopping with me too?
Happy Birthday Gabriel. You are a cutie. I can see that even without reading glasses.
And of course, the card is awesome.
Your card is a show stopper! Love the stamped twill ribbon and the jumbo eyelets! WOW!
And Amy you are beautiful...age is just a number, it's not you. Love your glasses though! I had to get the real thing after wearing the reading glasses for a while, and it was right around the same time.
Forgot to add..your "baby" is beautiful! 1 is a fabulous number! Happy Birthday Gabriel!
Love your card Amy, the glasses are cool and funky and your son is adorable!

I love your reading glasses! I agree, if you need them...get some cool ones....they are fairly inexpensive and I have a friend who has funky ones in every colour...lol...keeps you young ;)
That is an adorable picture of your son!!!
I'm shooting you and email now ;)
That is one aesome Father's Day card. The huge eyelets are awesome and the lacing is great and it is just fab. Reminds me of sports protective gear, actually.
Love the new tool! hehe. Good thing reading glasses come in cool designs and shades now!
Wow - this card is amazing - and the question is - where do you find time to stamp with a 1-year old and a 4-year old? Whew! Makes me tired to think about it! Love those reading glasses too - too fun!! What a great tease it was - I was thinking you'd found some great new tool that I was just going to have to have - LOL!!
What a cute pie! How fun a year. So many milestones. Like your card too :)
What a darling little boy! Watch out b/c soon they are 20 years old, like mine will be this year!
:(
LOVE your glasses! Where did you get them?
Your card is delightful and really such a cool design. I love the twill stamping!
OK, let me get this straight...you are ALMOST 40, you have a 1 year old, you wear braces and you need reading glasses..hhhmmm, OK I got it now. All those things altogether are pretty amusing!!
What a great card! And I do like the straigt forward sentiment.
Happy Bday to your little cutie pie!! I love the idea that you are taking your daughter's fashion advice, that's totally adorable.
So, when is your big 4o bday? Sounds like we might be having this 'special' (scary) day about the same time.
Would love to have your address!
Have a happy day!
Hi Amy,
I know when your birthday is, and I'm glad you reminded me, because that gives me almost 5 months to make you an awesome card! It could take me that long, ya know! Can Adrienne come shopping with me? No one here ever tells me to buy pink! And I can't believe Gabriel is 1 already! Didn't you just have him?
We must have another stamping day, get out your calendar...
