Marci Celebrates Summer

I just got back from a week at the beach and let me just say I *wish* I looked as cute as Beach Marci, one of the newer La-La Land Crafts images available at Stamper's Dream! I colored her with Copic markers, trimmed her out, and placed her in a "scene" (I use that term loosely) created with Pink Paislee's Hometown Summer paper collection. It's hard to see in the photo, but the sentiment "Celebrate Summer," from JustRite's Elegant Charms cling set, is stamped onto the smaller cloud to the left. The waves are die-cut with the Catch A Wave Die-namics die from My Favorite Things. The number banner along the bottom is from Pink Paislee's Hometown Summer border sticker collection. The clouds and cork sun are also die-cut with MFT Die-namics dies -- Sunshine and Flat-Bottom Clouds.

The layout is the July Sketch For You To Try, sponsored by My Favorite Things. Check out this post for all the participation details and the linking widget where you hook up your entry -- happy stamping! Remember, those who participate in all twelve sketches for the year will be eligible for a mega grand prize drawing in December. Hard to believe we're more than halfway through the year now!

I'm going to scoot -- lots of catching up from being away last week, including an email backlog. If I owe you a response, you'll be hearing from me shortly. My blog has been a little quiet lately, but it's about to get wild and crazy! The next few weeks are going to be super exciting and busy -- I cannot wait!

Break A Leg

My daughter's dance recital is coming up next weekend, so I thought I'd make her a card -- maybe a break a leg card to give her before the recital or a well done card for afterward. Either way, Marci Ballerina by La-La Land Crafts is the perfect stamp! I colored Marci with Prismacolor pencils, added some crystal clear ultrafine glitter using a Quickie Glue Pen, and gave Marci a home amidst some sweet Once Upon A Springtime papers by Graphic45. Have you seen Jen Shults's Prismacolor skin/hair guide book? What an awesome resource! I used one of her skin combos today, which looks great in real life -- not sure why my pictures are so washed out and gray - ick. I've tried a million different angles, camera settings, and Photoshop adjustments. Weird. I also started with one of Jen's hair combos, but then switched to a darker one, so I kind of mixed and matched there.

A second skirt has been popped up on the first for some dimension. The pink flowers are Maya Road stick pins. I tucked one down in behind the seam binding and thought it looked like Marci was dancing next to a flower, so I decided to give her a whole garden to dance in!

On the inside is a sentiment from JustRite's You Inspire Me cling set, framed by one of the new Charmed images, and die-cut with Spellbinders Charms Custom Dies from JustRite.

My daughter does inspire me! The way she focuses on her steps, the enthusiasm she brings to each class, her bravery when it's her turn to dance solo in front of her classmates, her {relative} confidence when performing. Hope she enjoys her Marci card as much as I enjoyed making it! I only wish my daughter's costume looked like Marci's. Adrienne will be wearing Zebra stripes and hot pink fire-engine red (oops, it helps to pay attention!) ...  sigh ... I like it better when little girls look like little girls.

Happy Sunday, my friends!

Sweet Pea Marcie

Have you seen all the new arrivals at Stamper's Dream? Lots of new CHA product is hitting the store almost daily, and Michelle has added a few new companies, too, including La La Land Crafts. I've used Fancy Dress Marcie for today's card, along with many other new goodies ... Webster's Pages Spring Market/Yacht Club/Country Estate 6x6 Petite Papers, some gorgeous paper flowers by Prima and by Kaisercraft (check out all the amazing Kaisercraft Paper Bloom colors!), Maya Road white bubble dots trim, and Maya Road Kraft Mini Tags (so cute -- I can see myself tucking these everywhere!). I now have a whole drawer dedicated to Maya Road ... chipboard, trinket pins, kraft envelopes, canvas tags, wooden buttons and spools, zipper trim -- love it all! Marcie is colored with Copic markers, including a very, very dry R32, so if the blending doesn't look smooth, my apologies! Off to order a few refills right away :D

Here's an artsy close-up:

And a closer look at this sweet, sweet image:
