Introducing Shaped Sayings: Birthday

Happy Friday, friends, and welcome to Papertrey Ink's March release countdown. I'm excited to introduce Shaped Sayings: Birthday, which is the second in a new series designed by Maile Belles.

The March release will be available at 10 pm March 15 in the Papertrey Ink store.

I have a few different projects to share, beginning with this birthday balloon card:

My "balloon" is actually an upside-down Tag Sale #4 die-cut. Inside is a white circle stamped with colorful confetti using Confetti Toss.  Next is an Enchanted Evening Shaped Sayings: Birthday die-cut on top. To complete the balloon look, I tied on some Balloon Strings die-cuts.

In the background, I first lightly sponged the perimeter with Aqua Mist, then used one of the Modern Background Stencils to add some additional Aqua Mist pattern. The clouds were die-cut with Blue Skies dies. To help them stand out more against the light background, I cut them out of Papertrey's super thick, heavy 160# White Tag Stock and then doubled up each cloud for added dimension.

Stamps: Confetti Toss

Dies: Shaped Sayings: Birthday, Tag Sale #4, Blue Skies, Balloon Strings

Ink: Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, New Leaf, Summer Sunrise, Enchanted Evening

Paper: Stamper's Select White, New Leaf, Enchanted Evening

Other: Modern Backgrounds Stencil Collection, clear sequins, ink blending tool

Next up is a very feminine birthday gift wrap project. For this, I started, again, with a Tag Sale #4 die-cut, this time in white. On top of that, in Soft Stone, I added just the outline die-cut from Enclosed: Flower (trimming out the word Smile, which is built in to the flower outline). Next is the Shaped Sayings: Birthday die-cut done in Luxe Gold Adhesive.

I embellished the tag with stamped flowers from Betsy's new Bloomin' Cute, along with some Branching Out die-cuts in Mint Julep. The glittery silver clothespin was a Target Dollar Spot holiday find. I topped the clothespin with some Sweet Blush satin ribbon.

Here's a look at the shine from the Luxe Gold Adhesive.

My last project shows off the playful, kinetic side of the Shapes Sayings: Birthday die:

Lots of bright and lots of happy on this one. l trimmed down a piece of Star Scribbles patterned paper, then randomly stamped some additional stars and splatter before layering on the Shaped Sayings: Birthday die-cut.

The sentiment is cut from a new color, Green Parakeet, and sponged at the bottom with New Leaf ink for an ombre effect. I added a narrow strip of Black and White All Over Stripes paper, along with some True Black Baker's Twine.

Stamps: Star Scribbles

DiesShaped Sayings: Birthday, Tag Sale: Quilted, Small Sketched Stars

Ink: Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Tropical Teal, Bright Buttercup, True Black, Pure Poppy

Paper: Stamper's Select White, Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, Tropical Teal card stock; Black and White All Over paper collection

Other: True Black baker's twine, silver sequins

Every single one of these is terrific! What a genius idea to use that tag die as a balloon. The best part is how this die looks so different on each card!

I love the size of this birthday die. I especially like your last card, which I think would be perfect for a teenager--which are the hardest cards for me to make.

Everything came out a winner. Beautiful job.

Hi Deborah, the gray striped bag is something from my stash. You can find the paper sacks in lots of sizes, colors, and patterns on etsy. Try searching paper bag, paper sack, or paper favor bag. The one I used is approximately 4x6. Hope that helps!
