Welcome to Reverse Confetti's December Creative Hop! I'm betting most of us are shaking our heads over Christmas being only sixteen days away. Crazy, huh?
Today's hop is going to be a fun one! Each of the Confetti Crew has a new project to share, as well as another look at three favorite Reverse Confetti projects from 2015.
For the full hop order, as well as a chance to win a $15 Reverse Confetti gift certificate, head over to the Reverse Confetti blog. If you're making your way along the hop, you should have arrived here from Amy Tsuruta. When you're finished here, you'll head next to Leigh Penner (I'll link again at the end).
For my new project, I created a Christmas tree using various Confetti Cuts dies. My inspiration came from this Rag Ribbon Christmas Tree project by Lucy at Craftberry Bush.
I started by cutting a piece of lattice board down to about 7 1/2 inches. I painted it white, then lightly sanded for a weathered look.
I die-cut a whole bunch of the Stitched Flag Trio die-cuts out of some thin corrugated cardboard I had in my stash. I sponged the edges with white pigment ink, then splattered with white mist.
Working from the bottom up, I used hot glue to adhere the flags to the lattice wood strip. The longer flags are at the bottom, medium in the middle, and the shortest ones are at the top.
Next, I "decorated" my tree much like you'd decorate a regular tree -- felt Circle Garland die-cuts first, then twine, then Leafy and Branch Out die-cuts as "picks," and last some silver star and circle sequins for the ornaments.
My tree topper is a star die-cut from the You Are A Star Confetti Cuts set. I topped that off with a button tied off with metallic silver embroidery floss.
My initial plan was for this to be a piece of holiday decor. On second thought, I'll be using it as an oversize tree ornament. My family cut down a beast of a tree this past weekend, a Colorado Blue Spruce with lots of room between branches, so some big ornaments like this will be perfect.
CONFETTI CUTS DIES: Stitched Flag Trio, Circle Garland, Leafy, Branch Out, You're A Star
INK: white pigment ink
PAPER: corrugated cardboard; PTI Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, and Dark Chocolate card stock
OTHER: silver sequins, ivory felt, ivory button, silver metallic twine, black and white baker's twine, white mist, lattice wood, off-white acrylic paint, sanding block
Next up, three favorite Reverse Confetti designs from the past year:
from the July Release Blog Hop
from the July 22 Wednesday in the Works
from the August Creative Hop
That's it for me today. The next stop on the hop is the fabulous Leigh Penner! Enjoy!
