Welcome to the third group post for Papertrey Ink's July release. Today's focus is Vintage Linens, a beautiful stamp and die set designed by Dawn McVey and inspired by vintage hankies and tablecloths. Also featured today is Embroidered Borders, a unique stamp and die set designed by Nichole Heady and inspired by the embroidered borders found on those same vintage linens.
All of the new products will be available in the Papertrey Ink store on July 15 at 10 pm. Be sure to visit Nichole's blog today for product details, giveaway info, and inspiration.
I've put together a coordinating trio of cards based on the above collage of a super fun, retro kitchen remodel posted on the Meadowbrook Farm blog. I love the retro vibe of this kitchen, and just look at all those linens!
My first card is a super easy, beginner-level card. Just a white card base, a strip of yellow striped paper, a floral cluster, and stamped sentiment.
I'm usually a fan of multi-step layers when it comes to floral images, but just look how gorgeous those flowers look with only one impression. I'm amazed!
There are additional floral options in the set: an outline version of the flower, which can be stamped onto the solid image or used separately and colored; and separate flower centers, which can be stamped directly onto the solid flower or stamped on separate flower center die-cuts (you'll see the centers on my next two cards). With or without those layers, these flowers are bold and beautiful!
Dies: Vintage Linens
Ink: Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet, New Leaf, True Black
Paper: white card stock; Harvest Gold Pattern Pack
Other: black and white baker's twine, foam adhesive
This next card incorporates some of Dawn's Vintage Linens patterned paper (the pink floral piece at the top), as well as the Embroidered Borders: Hexes stamps and dies. The flowers are stamped in the same colors as above, but this time, I added stamped and die-cut flower centers in Harvest Gold for a little extra pop of color.
The smaller Embroidered Borders: Hexes frame is die-cut from white card stock and stamped in Harvest Gold.
For the stitched border at the bottom, I die-cut the large Embroidered Borders: Hexes frame out of Hawaiian Shores, cut off just one side for a border and machine stitched through the center.
Below the focal point frame, I stamped a sentiment from Keep It Simple: Just Because.

Ink: Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet, New Leaf, Harvest Gold True Black
Paper: white card stock, Fresh Snow Linen card stock, Harvest Gold and Hawaiian Shores Pattern Packs, Vintage Linens Paper Collection
Other: black and white baker's twine, foam adhesive, sewing machine
For the last card, I really wanted to imitate the decorative floral clusters that are often in the corners of vintage linens.
The flowers are done just like above, but this time I placed them on a piece of card stock cut to a triangle and arranged to look like an envelope flap (or, rather, the corner of a tablecloth). The yellow border was done with the Embroidered Borders: Dots stamps and dies. To add even more interest to the corner, I layered the triangle piece onto a corner of one of the patterned papers from the Vintage Linens paper collection. The result is that extra thin red line and the white and pink outer borders.
