Welcome to the third group post for Papertrey Ink's June release, featuring .... balloons! What's more fun and festive than balloons? They work for everything from birthdays and graduations to anniversaries, weddings, and all sorts of holidays. The design team has all sorts of balloon ideas to share today.
Remember, all of the June release products will be available June 15 at 10 pm in the Papertrey Ink store.
For today's project, I chose to work with the new Shaker Shapes: Balloon dies. These are so FUN! I love the confetti-filled balloons that I see all over Pinterest, and now I can make paper versions, filled with die-cut confetti, glitter, sequins, beads, you name it.
I wanted my balloons to have a translucent look, so I die-cut two backer pieces out of Sheer Basics Vellum. Next I cut two acetate pieces. Since I was filling with glitter, which doesn't need much depth, instead of popping up with foam, I added the glitter and stitched the layers closed. The frame pieces were die-cut from Luxe Silver Cardstock and adhered on top to cover up the stitching and give the balloons a nice finished look.
I also die-cut some of the balloon confetti (which comes with the Shaker Shapes: Balloon die set), and added some white tone-on-tone streamers and stars to the background panel. The balloon strings are also die-cut using the new Balloon Strings dies. Last, I added a gold foil die-cut sentiment. This sentiment die is included in the Shaker Shapes: Balloon die set. You can't see in the photo, but I coated all the white background pieces with a clear Wink of Stella pen.
