Introducing Make It Market Mini Kit: Lovely Laurels

Everyone at Papertrey Ink is excited to share the news of Betsy Veldman's new Make It Market Mini Kits!  The first one is being released this weekend, on Sunday, February 15th.  To help celebrate, the entire design team is participating in a little scavenger hunt!  Be sure to visit Nichole's blog for all the details so you can play along!  EIGHT $80 Papertrey Gift Certificates will be awarded to the participants!

I just love what Betsy has put together to debut her new Make It Market Mini Kit series! With a gorgeous stamp set, beautiful papers, a creative die, and sweet, thoughtful embellishments, Lovely Laurels packs quite the punch. Friendly for beginners while also appealing to experienced stampers, there's something for everyone!

My first card is straightforward, easy, and quick -- great for all levels of stamping experience:

I trimmed down one of the pretty papers, overlaid a piece of the new Sheer Basics Vellum, and mounted it onto a card base. I cut a circle window in the vellum as a frame for the printed focal point.

A simple horizontal strip, sentiment, and button accent finish off the bottom of the card.

I stamped and popped up a few elements on the laurel branch to add a little more interest.

The vellum stays in place pretty well with just some adhesive behind the area where the sentiment strip is, but for good measure, I used a glue pen to add small dots of glue on the back side of vellum in the top corners. By lightly dotting the glue on the back side of the dotted pattern, I made sure the glue doesn't show from the front.

The second card is stepped up a little bit:

Once again, I started with one of the beautiful printed sentiment panels and trimmed it down. To the top, I added a border in another pattern, as well as cardstock scallops.

I tied on some of the pink twine and accented with leaves cut from the leaf ribbon.

I finished with a little cluster consisting of a tag (from the Keep It Simple Frames dies shown earlier this week), some stamped and die-cut flowers, a sentiment, and a stamped and die-cut bird. Nothing difficult with this card, but it takes a little more time than the first card.

Last is a card likely to appeal more to an experienced stamper.

On this one, I stamped and die-cut the laurel branches into Fresh Snow Linen card stock, then embellished with sequins and stamped and die-cut floral accents. The "just for you" sentiment is heat embossed and die-cut into a circle. I framed the focal point with a Keep It Simple Frame, added a second sentiment and accented with a die-cut bow.

In the background are popped up layers, a vellum layer, and a hand-stitched border detail.

I can't say enough about Lovely Laurels. The papers and images truly are lovely -- a breeze and a dream to design with! Be sure to check out the other DT blogs for more:
