Yesterday, I showed the first of two accordion-fold booklets that I made for my daughter's kindergarten teachers. Instead of creating an exact duplicate of the first booklet, I thought I'd just change out the papers. Instead, I found my groove and ended up adding all sorts of little extras.
This is the hinged, window tin I packaged the booklets in. I went simple - just a piece of patterned paper inside and some twill tied around the outside.
The first page, like yesterday's booklet, has a stamped quote from Make the Grade by Taylored Expressions.
The second page is for the restaurant gift card. Instead of the "Bon Appetit" tag like I did for yesterday's book, I created a scrappy "D is for dinner" label using a "Dd" from the manuscript pattern in October Afternoon's Report Card collection along with some Making Memories mini alpha stickers.
Next is the Barnes & Noble gift card with "B is for books." I love the banner treatments that are so popular right now. This was my first go at one - so fun!
"S is for shop" goes with the Visa gift card. Notice how the bit of dp in the background also includes "s" words? "Scene" peeks out at the top and "scissors" peeks out at the bottom. I didn't plan it that way - just noticed it as I was adhering the gift card envie. Love happy little surprises like that!
And the last page is a message to the teacher along with the student names.
This is the gift bag I put the tin in. I just added a strip of one of the Report Card patterns to the top, then tied on a pencil-shaped tag. The pencil was made by lining up the various colored pieces of card stock (pink, aluminum foil, gold, kraft, dark grey) and then trimming the lead end to a point and slightly rounding the corners of the eraser end.
I had so much fun making these gift card holders! Although I liked the first one just fine, this one was by far my favorite. The Report Card papers were so perfect (why didn't I think of them first?), and once the inspiration hit for the envelope titles, I had so much fun figuring out how to arrange the little title collages. If it wasn't 3 AM when I finished, I would have made a third, so that both teachers could get this version. How nice, though, that dd liked the other one best - that way I felt like each teacher got a favorite.
Thanks for visiting!

Is the actual accordion made out of cardstock and scored? If so, What size is the paper. These would be GREAT at Christmas!
I love this project!!! I have to agree with yoiur daughter though...I like the first one best :) Is this your own template or did you get it from somewhere? I would love to know how to do the little pockets for the cards.
As always, your work is fabulous!
What an Amazing Project!! You are so talented!! I love it!!!!
SUPERCALIFRADGILISTICEXPIALADOCIOUS!!!!! You'll definitely be seeing me steal this idea! The bad thing is that now I have to sit at my "real job" all day all the while thinking about playing in my scrapbook room creating THIS!!!
You make the best gifts. I'll bet the teachers at your elementary school have knock-down-drag-out fights to have your children in their class! Amy gifts are terrific!!!
Is it WRONG to say that I wish I was your kids' teacher?!? LOL! WOW, girl-you totally outdied yourself, this is SO gorgeous! What a beautiful gift!
Amy you are a genius!! I just love that pencil....I thought it was an actual tag, I am amazed that you created it! I never woulda thought of that!! Lucky teachers!!
Oh, I would have a hard time picking a favorite! They are both just as cute as can be. Too bad my kids are grown and not in school any more...maybe I will find another occasion to use this really cute idea.

Both your gift card booklets are so cute, Amy! I love the bag, too. I don't know if I'd even know where to start on one of these. Gosh, there's so much going on and all of it's fabulous!!
This is the best little thing all wrapped up into one that I have ever seen...awesome!
Amazing! I wasn't sure you could beat the last one but you proved em wrong! Love the way they look in the tin and fabulous in the bag!
Goodness these are beautiful little accordions! I've no doubt they were a hit with our kids' teachers and quite the envy of the rest of the teachers in other grades who weren't so lucky as to be the recipient of your intricate artwork. These will surely become treasured heirlooms.
Shut up! Can I be your kids teachers? LOL! I am in awe of this amazing project!
Amy, this is over-the-top adorable, I just love it. My guys are past the age of teacher gifts and would kill me if I did one . . . LOL! Oh, how I wish they were small again! I would most definitely be "lifting" another of your designs . . . (wink!). Hugs, Jerri
WOW...this is SO LOVELY...and SO CREATIVE and SO KIND of you! I love...love...every detail! I am a high school teacher, and would feel so humbled and honored to receive such a beautiful gift. The recipient will absolutely love this thoughtful gift! In my opinion, no age of a student is ever too young or too old to thank a teacher.
-Many blessings to you!
