I plant a modest vegetable garden every year, and would really love a place to record information and photos during the growing season and even from year to year. I can never remember from one year to the next which tomato variety I like best, which cucumbers did the best, and all sorts of other info that would be useful. Who's That Gardening Girl was perfect for my garden album/journal!
This album was originally a mini scrapbook album, so it has clear photo/layout sleeves inside, but I'm excited to add all sorts of other goodies using my bind-it-all ... envelopes to hold seed packets, pages for journaling, canning and freezing how-to, and so on. Having a pretty book should motivate me to keep better records, right?
I love to share the comical observations and commentary I get from my 6-year-old daughter, who loves crafting every bit as much as her mama. When she saw this book, she looked very quietly for some time and seemed puzzled. Finally, in a shy little voice, she asked, "Why isn't she wearing any pants?" LOL - I was going for khaki. Be honest, friends, does it look like khaki or a bare bottom? Instead of skin-tone arms, I gave her a pair of long green (and very snug) garden gloves. Coloring is with Copics. The red and green ric rac strips are cut with MFT's new Jumbo Ric Rac Die-namics out of MFT's felt . The ric rac piece at the top is cut from canvas fabric. Behind the image is a square of burlap.
Your next stop on the hop is Sherrie. Get ready to see all kinds of gorgeousness! Enjoy the rest of the hop!

I totally thought khaki's, but if you're six years old I can see bare bottom, too! LOL! Darling book!
If only a pretty book would keep me motivated to keep better records! Love yours.
Now that's really getting to be "at one" with nature...au natural. I'm with your daughter. It must have been a really hot day out.
Bare bottom! And not only that - my first thought was: why does a Black woman have white legs? LOL
Well, I got little sleep today. OR I need to change my monitor ;-))
Oh my, Amy, WHEN do you get time to do gardening?! Now you've put me to shame not only as a crafter, but as a housewife too! This garden album is simply fantastic!
Hey, I love the bare bum idea! I think you would get people to help in your garden for sure lol! Great project Amy!
lol! I actually hadn't thought anything was odd but I can see how a six yr old would...they have such good imaginations! Love the green glove idea!!
LOL, I love the child commentary. My son agrees with her, but I see the Khaki. I guess it's all in perspective. Lovely project!
Love the book, Amy! I'm kind of with your daughter.....but I also see it as a really light khaki! Love when you share her comments!

I see khaki, but I could see how she would think otherwise! I thought about making her hands gloves too! I figured I couldn't get them to look like gloves, but you did awesome! Darling little book.
OMG, I bet you laughed until you cried with your daughter's comment! I can just hear my own saying the same thing! Too funny- Naked Gardening! Love your little book, BTW, what a fun idea. I need one of those with my notes of where I want to move things when they stop blooming and what things are called that I can never remember!!
Darling mini book Amy. Your ideas and placement of embellishments are always perfectly tailored. And,(laughing) isn't wonderful what children see through their eyes? She has a trained eye already (laughing). What color Copics did you use? This is a summer project for sure!
I saw butt (or buck) naked! Loved it! Love the way your child thinks. It is a great idea.
Love this Amy! What a great idea! Your coloring is awesome! Oh, and my vote is for Khaki!

the journal looks beautiful.
Perfect in every way, Amy! LOL about your perplexed DD!
So very adorable! I am amazed at your coloring. I don't have Outlook on my computer, and that's the only way I can email you from your site. I was wondering what kind of white paper you stamp your images on? I'm struggling to use my watercolors and markers on the paper I use. Thanks! Robin at: rgillet1@rochester.rr.com
Children always tell the truth, what they see is what it is, I love your daughter, is very detailed.
Nice work Amy and brilliant idea.
