Hoot Hoot

Happy 4th of July to those who celebrate it! My plans today include nothing more than keeping an eye on my littlest one, who's been battling croup since Thursday night. It was bad enough for him to be hospitalized for observation most of yesterday and overnight. The good news is he's home now, sounding and looking so much better.

I would have skipped posting a sample for Jen's Sketch For You To Try this week, except that I've had both cards (couldn't decide which direction to take) all laid out since Thursday night, so all I had to do when I got home and sufficiently caught up on sleep (aka long afternoon nap) was adhere everything together. The owl stamp is by Inky Antics (he wears a birthday hat on his head, which I snipped off for this card) and the dps are from the K&Co Carolyn Gavin Greenhouse collection. Coloring is with Copics. The owl is popped up, and then the eyes are popped up a second time.

If you haven't seen Jen's sketch already, have a look over at i{heart}2stamp.com. While you're there, give a warm welcome to the new July guest designer!! Amy Rohl, Carole Burrage, Kelly Lunceford, and Susan Liles all have sketch samples posted for even more inspiration. Hope you'll play along! Link up to Jen's post and/or use keyword SFYTT on SCS.

Here's my alternate version:

Have a great weekend!

Stamps: Birthday Owl (Inky Antics)
Paper: SU Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze, PTI Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate, and Kraft, K&Co Carolyn Gavin Greenhouse dp
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Vintage Cream
Accessories: Copic markers, Labels 3 Nestabilities, foam adhesive, SU buttons, linen thread, twill, and ribbon

Oh gosh, Amy, I hope your little one is doing better this morning and that you all got some much needed rest. It's always a frightening situation when they are ill and especially when a hospital is needed. I do hope they are on the road to recovery!
Your cards are both fabulous and I can't pick a fave ;)

sorry to hear your little guy got sick, good to hear he is on the mend!
Love these cards, that owl stamp is too cool, like the dimension and the twill on the second with the cross stitches is neat!

Croup is the worst...my DD, Sarah got it every year for about five years. I hope Gabriel and YOU are feeling better soon...it's so stressful to have a little one sick!

LOVE both cards! I really need to try the ribbon technique on your second card!!

Look at you, Miss OverAchiever! And here I thought you weren't even playing (I've edited my post now, fyi). Love both of your cards, and I just discovered that Carolyn Gavin dp -- isn't she fabulous??? Hope your little one is doing better. The croup is scary. That bark sounds so other-worldly... (((Amy)))

I don't think this card could be any cuter! I love how you did the layer of kraft on kraft. Simple, but what a nice effect it has. And those bugging eyes just make me smile :0)

This is beautiful Amy! I love how you did the twill, great idea!

I'm glad your son is better. Croup stinks! My daughter is finally outgrowing it but every time the weather changed extremely, she'd get croup but over the years it is better but when they are little, it is awful! Take care!

I love both of these cards! The splash of blue/green against the brown tones is awesome!
