I spent part of the morning finishing up my sample for Jen del Muro's Sketch for You To Try, and now I'm being summoned by my oldest son to take him shopping for some new Bakugan (his money - yay!!). Is that the new craze everywhere? It sure is at my son's school! [Update: Cole and I spent three hours going to four different stores for Bakugan (plus two craft stores for me) and FINALLY found them at the last store, which was the closest to home, LOL! He is VERY happy, and so is Mom.]
I toyed around with some different ideas for Jen's sketch this week (check it out at i{heart}2stamp), especially for the star, which just indicates any kind of embellishment. I kept coming back to some kind of flourish. I went to bed last night after a really fun scrap club with the plan to use one of my grungeboard flourishes, but somewhere along the way took a notion to use the branch-like image from Stampin' Up's Kindred Spirits set. I love the look of this image trimmed out! It takes some time, but the results are worth it. So I guess I kind of "adapted" the sketch (it sounds so much nicer than "maul," huh?) and turned the embellishment into the focal image. Anyway, the card is really not at all what I envisioned, but I'm calling it done all the same :D
In addition to the sketch, you can see Jen's and guest designer Suzanne Dean's samples at i{heart}2stamp.com. While you're there, be sure to wish Jen and her husband Tony a happy anniversary! You can see even more samples from Amy, Carole, Shannan, and Susan. As always, we'd love to have you play along. If you upload to SCS, remember to use keyword: SFYTT.

This is bee-yoo-tee-full!!!
There is a lot of work on this card! Very lovely! Have a wonderful day!
This is great! I don't think I would have the patience to cut this out, but it worked out beautifully.
Beautiful card, Amy!! My almost 10 yr old JUST started talking about Bakugon brawlers ~~ I had never heard of them until he made his birthday wish list. When we went to our SuperWalmart they did have some, but a very small selection. There were lots of empty hangers ~ so either they are JUST getting them in or they had them & they sold out, lol!!
Love love love the card!! We have the same problem with the Bakugan. When I see them, I buy as many as I can!
This is lovely!!!!
btw...swing by my blog...there is an award waiting for you
beautiful card.....I love the cutting.
I have yet to hear about Bakugon....
Glad you found some! I got Andy some after - get this - I saw a boy about his age playing with them at a craft show where his parents had a booth, lol! I stopped to chat him up - poor guy looked so bored! - and thought they looked really cool. I found mine no prob at Target - all the Targets here have tons!
Gorgeous card! Looks like a fun sketch...might have to try it!
Amazing! I love your take on the sketch, and am in awe of your details--bravo, girl!
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! I love your embellishments and details! Hugs-Jd
Gorgeous card. Love what you did with the sprig! Great colors and design.
So cool -- you are always finding ways to inspire and surprise me! I always look at yours (which are so different from mine) and wonder how we worked off the same sketch! You're elegant and I'm ... not (but that's okay -- it takes all kinds of stampers to make the stamping world go 'round, right? ;) )
Just gorgeous, Amy!!
Beautiful card Amy! Ive never heard of the Bakugan!?! What is it?!
PRetty card! I've not heard of Bakugan, but I googled it and saw what it was....maybe I can keep my son from hearing about it? I'm so tired of "stuff!"----of course, he does live here in this world, so it's likely I'll hear about it from him soon enough!!
Beautiful Amy!! I love the warm colors and all the stitching!! I had to google Bakugan (lol)- my boys are older now, but I sure remember all the Gundams, Transformers, Power Rangers, and similar toys!!
hugs, Jami
This is gorgeous, Amy! All that cutting must take some patience, which I seem to lack these days!!
This card is terrific. How lovely. Great sketch. All that detail you put into each card is just fantastic....
I cannot believe it. MY son's name is Cole too. He LOVES Bakugon. We were all over NC yesterday looking for them. I ordered some from Amazon for Christmas. I thought I had better get them early before they could not be found. LOL....what we moms do for our kiddies...
