My nephew and his fiancee recently got married, so this card is for the newlyweds. I was playing around with the name tag die cut, when this idea sprung into my head. The "status update," "#epic," and "This really happened" die-cuts were perfect! I found the social media theme a super fun, fresh, and very current approach to a very traditional occasion - weddings! (Now, let's all just hope, for the sake of this card, that she took his name!)

April Card Kitchen, Part 1

Let's talk about the April Card Kitchen kit -- LOVE! As I mentioned in my last post, it features Jillibean Soup's Spicy Social Soup collection, which I just adore. The social media theme was so much fun to play with! Also included are some super fun embellishments, including Jillibean Soup's new Wooden Nickels and a new Circle Placemat.

Card Kitchen Catch-Up

The APRIL Card Kitchen kit is currently available, and it's an absolutely fabulous kit that features Jillibean Soup's new Spicy Social Soup line. This collection was so fun to play with! You can see most of my kit cards, as well as inspiration from Shellye McDaniel and  Kimber McGray over on The Card Kitchen blog. I'll share my cards here as well sometime in the next day or two, but for today, I still have MARCH kit cards that I haven't shown here yet. (It seems I still make a lot of things, but I just don't blog nearly as much as I used to!)

The March kit features Jillibean Soup's Birthday Bisque collection, and just may be my all-time favorite kit! Here's what I did with it:

Reverse Confetti April Blog Hop

It looks like spring has finally sprung, and we can’t think of a better way to get some crafty spring inspiration than with a fun new Blog Hop from REVERSE CONFETTI!  Today, the Confetti Crew and a few other “friends” will surely brighten your day with their fabulous cards and projects.  We hope you will take some time and be inspired as you hop along with us right now!

For my project, I combined the new CLASS ACT set with COUNT YOUR RAINBOWS from last fall to make a teacher appreciation card. The main panel was die-cut with CLASS ACT CONFETTI CUTS dies, and the top edge of the card base was die-cut with OFFICE EDGES CONFETTI CUTS. The number border at the top was cut on my Silhouette. The other horizontal strips are layered washi tapes.

Color Outside the Lines

I love how watercoloring is all trendy again with card-makers, and was especially inspired by the intensity of color on this card by Kristina Werner. To get this look, I wet the watercolor paper first then added a few drops of different re-inkers. After the paper had dried a bit, I used a straw to blow some of the excess ink around for the splatter look. I'm not the most patient person in the world, so I had to just walk away entirely to let the paper and ink fully dry before adding the white embossed sentiment from Reverse Confetti's DREAM IN COLOR stamp set.

I hesitate to show the detail shot because color isn't the only thing outside the lines. See all that stray white embossing, despite my best efforts to clean up the powder before embossing? Oh, well ...

Hello Reverse Confetti friends! Winter may be trying to hold on for dear life, but with the hopes of spring right around the corner, there’s a fresh new release from REVERSE CONFETTI!  There are 6 new stamp sets and 5 new Confetti Cuts Dies (some of which coordinate perfectly with a few of the stamp sets, too). Today, we’re hoping to put a “spring in your step” with our new release Blog Hop!  The Confetti Crew, Challenge Crew, and a few of our friends have sprung into action with some fabulous projects to share this month using the newest RC products.  Hop along with us and catch “spring fever”!
