Weather Trends

Welcome to the first group post for Papertrey Ink's July release. Today we are featuring an assortment of super trendy weather-themed products. For today, I'll be sharing cards made with the Enclosed: Sun stamps and dies, the Rainy Day Cover Plate, the Rainy Day Sentiments stamp set, and the Tucked In: Thinking of You stamp set.

All of the new products will be available in the Papertrey Ink store on July 15 at 10 pm. Be sure to visit Nichole's blog today for product details, giveaway info, and inspiration.

I have both a rainy card and a sunny card to share today. For my rainy card, I started by watercoloring a background in different shades of blue and splashing on some water droplets to get that rained on look. Then I used the Rainy Day Cover Plate to die-cut the raindrops, which I arranged randomly on the card base. For a little extra texture and interest, I also added in some plain white rain drops (out of regular white card stock to contrast with the Fresh Snow linen card base), and some dark blue splatter. This cover plate is fabulous in that both the die-cut and the negative pieces can be used equally well.

The sentiment is one of so many wonderful sentiments in the Rainy Day Sentiments stamp set. The sentiments are uplifting and encouraging, and the font and type size has a beautiful, understated elegance.

For my sunny card, I stamped and die-cut a big sun using the Enclosed: Sun stamps and dies. The word "shine" is part of a sun overlay layer (similar to all of the sets in the Enclosed series). I just carefully trimmed out "shine" to stand alone. I sponged on Harvest Gold and Orange Zest inks for an ombre look.

All of the clouds were die-cut using the Blue Skies die set. I arranged everything on a watercolored background panel and accented with a few clear sequins.

On the inside of the card, I added a stamped and sponged sun and one of the sentiments from Tucked In: Thinking of You. The sponged circle was done using the negative of one of the Enclosed: Sun die-cuts. The dots around the outside were stamped with one of the images from the Enclosed: Sun stamp set.

  17. Hello Amy! I was drawn to your watercolored raindrops. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we've been missing the rain and shockingly so. Your raindrops remind me of Eric Carle's collages. Your work inspires me to replicate them. Thank you for sharing!
