I've been having more fun with my Sing to the Lord stamp set by Our Daily Bread Designs. What a gorgeous image to color! This time I used Prismacolors and Gamsol. I thought the "We are praying for you" sentiment was the perfect size for a tall card (3 1/4 x 6 1/2). The flowers are popped up for some dimension. Everything is layered onto some yummy Wild Asparagus dp from my stash.
See that yummy taupe satin ribbon? You are NOT going to believe this!! I had heard about an Offray ribbon outlet in nearby Hagerstown, Maryland a while back from the ladies who had the sad job of closing down my local Recollections. After many months, my 4yo dd and I finally made the trek this week (only an hour away). Let me just say that even with gas prices and my gas-guzzling SUV, the trip was SO worth it. Take a look at just some of the many steals and deals we found:
The photos don't do justice to the size of these rolls. Both the taupe and white spools measure 6 inches in diameter. I'm guessing there are at least 40 yards of 1" satin ribbon on them. I paid $5 or less for each of them. The ivory one is smaller and probably has 15 yards. I'm so glad it was marked down to 25 cents, because I never would have paid the full 50 cents! [big WINK, WINK!] They also had bins of cute ribbon-type embellishments and package toppers for 10 cents each! Oh, and the grab bags -- I've gotta show you one of those (35 cents, that's a quart-size Ziplok!! Pinch me, I'm gonna pass out!!):
Here's a thought ... leave me a comment on this post telling me your current favorite ribbon style. On Saturday morning, I'll draw a random name and get a ribbon assortment sent out to the winner! My current favorite, you might have guessed, is satin!!
Have a great day!

Hi! I wish we had a ribbon outlet where we live...lucky you.
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite ribbon is also satin, but I'm kinda liking organza right now too. I've never played with it before and I've found it really easy to use on cards.
Thanks for the opportunity to win!

I am so jealouse! My current fav is gingham or stipped ribbon. Adds a bit of run - but not to serious.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your deals and making us all drool.
First of all let me say that your card is absolutely gorgeous! Your coloring is beautifully done and I do love that ribbon!
ReplyDeleteYou really got a steal with that ribbon, so very pretty! I love satin ribbon, but right now my favorite is velvet!!! Thanks for the chance to win some yummy ribbon! :D
Wow - how fun to make a trip to a place with such great deals on ribbon! So generous of you to give some of it away too!! My favorite has to be the satin ribbon too - it is just so yummy to feel and play with! My next favorite is definitely grosgrain because it ties so nicely!
ReplyDeleteYour card is amazing too - love the layout, design, and coloring!!
WOW!!! Next time I visit NoVa I may need to check this place out! I LOVE grosgrain ribbon, but really, I am a fan of all ribbon!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a deal! My current favorite ribbon is....striped grosgain. It's an old stand-by but I love it for my summery cards! I had some chocolate satin ribbon and used it this past winter...loved it too! What can I say? I am a ribbon-a-holic!!! Thanks for sharing and congrats on your great deals!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? That satin ribbon is YUMMY! Would you like me to send you some quarters?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the offer!
OMG that is awesome. Love the card. I live in Baltimore and haven't heard of it. Where is it located? May be worth a trip. Oh and my favorite ribbon is satin. Thanks for a chance at some beautiful ribbon.
ReplyDeleteWow - great score! Love your card too! I have to agree that my fave right now is satin - I'm hoarding the su satin from a couple of mini's ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm still hooked on gross grain. I love using rub-ons on it or stickers :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card...and ribbon! What an awesome find...and so generous to share ;)...i love the feel and look of the new SU! poly-twill ribbon!
ReplyDeleteForget the ribbon....your card is over-the-top gorgeous!! Did I mention it was gorgoues!! Oh my gosh..you are such an old pro already with that gamsol stuff!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour card is just gorgeous!!! What a fun trip that is -- to a ribbon outlet!! My favorite right now is stitched ribbon - I bought some A Muse ones to try. They come in bright colors -perfect for summer cards!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find with that ribbon! my current favorite (one that I seem to be using a lot lately for some reason) is polkadotted grosgrain - in various colors.
ReplyDeleteI ♥ ribbon!! That satin ribbon is so beautiful... I ♥ the taffeta ribbon. I've also been using a lot of 5/8" grosgrain ribbon...
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Atta girl!!! What a great find! Oh I just love sales. Unfortunately, I don't live close to any outlets and what a sweet one you have!
ReplyDeleteI've been using a lot of polka-dotted grosgrain and sheer ribbon lately, but my all time favorite is a satin. That's yummy!
What a gorgeous card! I love the 5/8' grosgrain and satin ribbon. Thanks so much! ~ Katie P.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...I really like velvet ribbon, but my favorite would be twill. It's so versatile, and I love that you can stamp on it.
ReplyDeleteTake care - Regina Davis
Wow you big spender you!!! I wouldn't have paid the full $.50 either!!! :) This is awesome. I LOVE ribbons! I can't do a card without ribbons!!!
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful! I don't do religious sentiments, so I've turned away from this company. But your card and that lovely bird make me want to buy the set and give the rest of the stamps away!
ReplyDeleteRight now, my fav ribbon is satin. It's just so elegant! Thanks for sharing your steals! :o)
Oh my goodness! That is sensational! I just about fell over when I found some clearnace bags for $1, but this!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite ribon right now has to be prints/patterns. I LOVE the satin but it does not fit some occassions. For those I like grosgain prints to add color and balance. Nice job on these ribbon finds!
I can't wait to see you use them, Ivonne
Wow! Looks like you grabbed a bargin. How I love a bargin! I love RIBBON! I can't decide on a favourite! My mum got me an excellent stash of Satin ribbon when she went on a trip to Venezuela. Loving your blog :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a hard one, but right now I would say my favorite is satin, especially with polka dots! Thanks for the chance to win....love your work.
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful Amy!!

Wow what a deal! My favorite ribbon is grosgran (sp?), but I'm really liking the satin ribbon I purchased from SU mini a few months back.
ReplyDeleteOh I am such a ribbon hoarder!!!! I was addicted to grograin for awhile but have been using alot of satin lately. That taupe is yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I do love ribbon, too. I didn't even know ribbon outlets existed (probably better off... ignorance is bliss, right?? At least for my bank account! :) Anyhow, I dunno if I can pick a favorite type of ribbon, but I think I'm with you... right now I'm loving satin!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great deal you found! I love ribbon, and feel that my cards/scrapbook pages are too naked without it. I've really been enjoying using wider widths of ribbon lately, like the 5/8" SU ribbons. I also really like the twill ribbons they had in the recent mini -- it ties so well.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite at the moment is twill. Your card is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a ribbon outlet near here! Of course I don't think I have seen a ribbon I didn't like but my favorite ribbon is grosgrain - 1/2" or 5/8" or a sheer ribbon. They just look so charming!

ReplyDeleteOooo, I'm so jealous! No, that's some awesome deals. My favorite ribbon has to be satin, of any color.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card. Sympathy cards are usually difficult to make, I always seem to find it difficult to strike the right balance, but yours completely fits the bill. I love all types of ribbon but especially like organza and grosgrain. Thanks for the chance at candy. Lots of love, Denise x

I'm so jealous! I wish we had a ribbon store near where I live. My fave ribbon would have to be grosgrain or anything with tiny polka dots on it. So cute!
ReplyDeleteYou lucky girl you! What a great find! I'm a satin kind of gal too.
ReplyDeleteShawn K.
Although I like satin ribbon too most of my cards lend themselves to grosgrain ribbon. I went to the outlet years ago but they didn't have such good bargains the day I was there. Great finds!
ReplyDeleteAnything polka dotted or gingham. I have boys and organza is nowhere to be found at my house!
ReplyDeleteWOW! You lucky duck, you! I wish I lived near there.. maybe I'll drag my darling boyfriend on a RoAdTrIp?
ReplyDeleteI loveee grosgrain and satin. I'm a fan of the big ribbon(like you have on your card). There's so much you can do with it!

I'm really wanting to get some taffeta ribbon. I saw someone ink up their white taffeta with a dauber and it looks so pretty! You can bet that will be on my next order to SU!
ReplyDeleteAntoinette
My favourite used to be gros grain, but I love the softness of satin.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Pickler! And I'm right there with you, LOVING the satin these days! And I'm so jealous you're so close to that outlet. Maybe it's time for a road trip?!
ReplyDeleteI also am using lots of satin right now. I have made over 200 cards for my church fundraiser in the past month so I'm going through tons of ribbon!! Wish I had a place to get it from in bigger spools. If you want to Rak me some I'll sure put it to good use. thanks Crystal Joy
ReplyDeleteI am sooo envious!! Lucky you! I love ribbon too and I think I use it on every card. I love the wider ribbon. As a result, I tend to hoard it. LOL. Keep up the great work, Amy. You are a regular on my daily dose of blog browsing
ReplyDeletenow thats a lovely card miss A. really pretty.
ReplyDeletei get emails from the outlet all the time and keep thinking one day i'll get up there - but you're right - it is a haul... one day. years ago, in another life, i visited that company's hq in nj... that was fun... ribbon galore! i love grosgrain but you are always making the satin look good. and boy did you get some bargains. gosh i gotta get up there! sorry i've been busy and not checking in too much... busy busy

Oh My Gosh! What an amazing deal you got! I'm so jealous that you have a ribbon outlet that close! My favorite ribbon of choice right now is cotton twill. I love the look of it and how it gives my projects added texture. Plus, I can stamp on it. :)

I'm going to come down to visit you! We can make a field trip of going to that outlet after going out for a nice breakfast or cup of coffee!! I love the wide satin ribbon but I also love the narrow dotted organdy, and I love the twill carried by stampin' up in their mini catalog, and I love ... oh my, I love them all! ReplyDeleteMy fav of all time is the satin that I got during the SU sale on ribbon.
ReplyDeleteI can't pick a favorite as I love them all...I guess organza is my fav.
