March SFYTT - Amber Ink

This first Saturday in March brings a brand-new Sketch For You To Try - woohoo!! This month, we're sponsored by Amber, Ink! Here's a little company info for you ...

AmberInk was started by a mother and daughter team. Amber lives in the East, Pam lives in the West. Amber is an Emmy-nominated children's animator and illustrator, who creates from her Brooklyn, New York studio. Although they do carry some clear stamps, the company runs by the premise that their customers are more brilliant than patient. If you've been a diehard clear or rubber stamper, they can even help you with the transition to digital. And don't worry about asking a silly question, because as a retired public high school teacher, Pam has already seen it all. Check out the ever-increasing tutorial links, which you can find on the homepage. Hailing from the Hawaiian Islands, the Aloha Spirit is alive and well at AmberInk.com.

Here's the March sketch:

I chose to work with a sweet turtle set from Amber, Ink., called Wild Animals With Heart - Just Poking Around Line-Up ...

Included in this digital download are four different turtles (each available for purchase as a single, too). Each turtle comes with a heart-patterned shell and a blank shell. I love how each one has its own personality - shy, curious, happy, and awkward. And I'm really having fun putting them into different combinations, like I did for today's SFYTT sample:

I arranged the three different turtles in Photoshop Elements, printed, colored with Prismacolor pencils, and trimmed. The papers are from one of the My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose 6x6 paper pads (I can tell you I'm not going to be able to remember which one is which -- I think this one is Hazel, maybe?). The yellow panel was die-cut with one of Spellbinders' new Wonky Rectangles dies. The red brackets are bits of a Spellbinders Labels Sixteen die peeking out. I finished off with some red Divine Twine, a white paper daisy, brads, stitching, and a computer-generated sentiment. This is going to a friend who's going through a hard time right now. The happy, cheery colors and cute turtles are sure to put a smile on her face!

Can't wait to see what the SFYTT Sisters have put together for today!
