Today, I'm honored to be joining some very talented designers for a blog hop to celebrate the CASE Study Challenge Blog's Second Anniversary! Congrats to owner Iwona (Chupa) and her amazing design team!!
Hopefully, you've arrived here from Laurie Schmidlin. If not, head over to the CASE Study blog for a complete list of the designers participating today. That way, you can start at the beginning and work your way around the whole hop! Iwona has put together some fabulous prizes, which you can win just by leaving comments on today's blog hop posts.
Our theme this week is "Out of the Box." We were asked to tackle something we had never done before, such as style, technique, type of project, etc. Sound fun? Then join us! Create your own out of the box project and link it up to the CASE Study blog by next Wednesday, 12:01 EST.
I have two project to share today. Here's the first one:
My "out of the box" elements are the aqua piece, which is a shape I cut with my new-ish Silhouette, the clean-and-simple style, which is definitely not my norm, the bright colors, and the white card base. The shape is a Lori Whitlock design, available in the Silhouette store. The pinwheel was done with a CutUps die from The Cat's Pajamas. And the sentiment is from Kick Some Grass, also by The Cat's Pajamas.
And here's my next project:
For this one, I again went with a more CAS style than is typical for me. And I also challenged myself to use some Studio Calico Mr. Huey's mists that I honestly haven't the faintest idea what to do with. My first attempt to use them with a mask was an epic fail (will keep trying), so I ditched the mask and went with more of an ink splatter look. (I didn't actually spray the mist; rather, I took the sprayer out of the bottle and flicked the drippy end a few times onto white card stock. The sentiment here is from Verve's Always on My Mind set.
Ready for the next stop on the hop? Head on over to Julie Smith at Paper and Such. Enjoy!

Aww girl, now YOU gave me the fuzzies! I adore you, your creativity and big heart, and I couldn't be happier to have you with us yet again. I love it that you challenged yourself, sometimes that's what makes it even more fun! I too had my battles with mists... I still do :) Gorgeous, superb cards!! The second one's no odinary card. I like the acrylic drops on it.
Good day! Would you mind if I share your blog with my facebook group? There’s a lot of people that I think would really appreciate your content. Please let me know. Many thanks
These are both such cool cards, couldn't chose between them :-) Debi x
I love both of these cards! I love the bright colours against the white of the first card and the ink splatters on the second one - I can never make that look right! :)
Very cute card!
Both of your designs are so different and equally striking. I really love the raised die cut on your smile card!!! My friend Dixie Cochran uses her Silhouette similarly and I find it so inspiring. Beautiful cards, Amy!
Two beauties! Mists can be intimidating, keep trying them out, you will begin to love them, they're so much fun!
Two beautiful projects, Amy. I'm warming up to the Silhouette idea. I really like the way you used yours here.
These cards are wonderful! I really love the first one, love that aqua piece you cut with the silhouette, you really did a great job out of the box!
Ooh I love your first card with it's fun bold colours and pinwheel! You definitely rocked the CAS style!
As for splattering - I think this is super! I can't say I've had much success with misting, but you've inspired me to practise! ;D
Hugs!

Cute cards! I like both.
I love the textures in your cards.
Fabulous cards Amy! So many fun techniques and wonderful inspiration!
Love both cards, Amy! Do you have a link to that Lori Whitlock design from the Silhouette store? I searched, but didn't find it, and would love to be able to get it! :)
Great cards, the first one so fun and the second so very pretty!
Cool! I love how you used a paper lattice cut out as a raised background. Amazing dimension and Pop! Really cool card!
Great cards...like how you made the shape with your silhouette and the splatters on the 2nd.

Lovely! Your ink splatters are awesome!
Both creations are fabulous Amy ... sure glad I don't have to pick a favorite! LOL! Thanks for the fun and inspiration!
Both are darling esp the ink splatter! You did a great job!
So fabulous! I love the little details and that you used a medium you aren't used to. Flicking the mist was a great idea!
Great out-of-the-box ideas! I'm really loving this as a hop idea :o)
Very creative cards! Love the ink splatter one! Isn't it neat how some fails end up creating something so pretty!

Two great projects you share love them both.
wow! What fabulous cards! I really love the first one with that unique die cut background and I like how you used the pinwheel. The second one is great too! I love the flower cluster and how you used the clip.
both projects are great CAS cars. The first one is really fun with cute colors and the second one is really springy and the splatters of brown paint are not overdone but just help in adding that earthy, naturey feel in the card. The three colors of bright green, brown and plain white go really well together.

Two great CAS cards! Love the splatters on the second one!
Love both of these!
both beautiful cards xxx but i do love the colours on the first xx
Amy your cards are both beautiful. Love that you challenged yourself to go with a style outside of your norm. Great job!
I love both of your pieces~they look great!
Both are lovely Amy. You managed to put your very own touch on both cards. Love the pretty colors and elements. The silhouette cut background panel is fabulous.
Fabulous cards. Hugs
Both your cards are devine. I laughed out loud at your splotch technique - will have to try that myself. I have a friend whose mom dips an old toothbrush in the ink and then scrapes her fingernail across the bristles for her "misting" - lots of different ways to skin a cat (pardon the expression - I do love cats) :o)
Those are both perfect, Amy. I love the "lace" piece on the first and on the second there are so many interesting and cool embellies.
OMG OMG OMG! These cards are awesome! I need to get my Cameo out of the box :) You are so talented!
Awesome! I love the cards especially the second card! Love everything on it!
Both are fabulous and just show that you can make any style of card beautifully!!
